With our new XF collaboration project – future-proofing regional manufacturing industry – we want to expand the industry’s access to the right skills in both the short and long term. The XF collaboration project will help training collaboration and above all, create the conditions for developing the right workforce for industry in the Gnosjö region and all of Jönköping County.
If we want to succeed in supplying skills in the future for the county, both in the short and long term, we need to bring about collaboration between the local business community and various players in training. The purpose of XF is therefore to create the right conditions for learning and supplying skills within the industry. We see this as a versatile structural training initiative and as a complement to our already established initiatives such as our own vocational teacher, Makersquare and Dreamjobber.
Turning challenges into opportunities
At Gnosjö Automatsvarvning we believe that what is required and needed is a comprehensive approach to several issues that are all concerned with training and skills. This primarily includes various training issues but also an open dialogue about the challenges that exist in connection with the industry’s attractiveness, generational transition and integration.
We are facing a number of challenges in the region. The general level of training is low, the labour market is segregated by gender, and only a handful of young people are applying for industrial training while companies, for their part, have problems finding the right skills. It’s for these reasons that we see a great need to strengthen collaboration between business, the region and training.
Highlight the potential that exists
Our aim is to expand the industry’s access to the right skills through the XF initiative where we collaborate on training. For us this means that, above all, we have to address target groups that are affected by training and career issues; young people, new arrivals, the unemployed and employees who are thinking of a career change, to showcase the wealth of variety and opportunities that exist when working in the industry.
Together, we will take responsibility and produce a model for securing the supply of skills within industry. In the future, the model will create the conditions to match industrial companies with the right skills, create jobs for the right job seekers in the right place, and increase the relevance of the content of training to meet the existing demand.
